Dear Biodiesel Supporters,
Its been a while since we sent out an e-update, so we wanted to let you know about some exciting developments for biodiesel here in New York City.
First off, let us thank all the early supporters and adopters of biodiesel fuel here in New York. It has been quite the uphill battle to bring this clean-burning fuel to the city, but with your help we are making progress. We would also like to thank all the folks that came out to see the movie Fields of Fuel at various screenings in the last weeks.
Biodiesel/Heating oil tax credit available now!
After years of effort by various biodiesel and environment stakeholders, we now have a 20 cent/gallon BioHeat tax credit. BioHeat is a mix of conventional #2 heating oil and clean-burning biodiesel that can be used in any normal #2 boiler without modification. (#4 and #6 boilers can use BioHeat as well in most cases.) Use of BioHeat heating oil will reduce global warming gasses, increase the air quality in your community and, with the new tax credit, can save you money. Switching to BioHeat is as easy as calling us up today and we will have a truck at your building tomorrow! Please call or email us today for a quote on clean-burning BioHeat.
Biodiesel now available at the pump 5 days a week!
Tri-State Biodiesel is proud to announce that we now have biodiesel blends available at the pump 5 days a week. Our distribution partner, Total Fuels, in New Rochelle, is now selling biodiesel blends to private vehicles and small fleets. You can buy pure biodiesel or blends of 50%, 20%, or 5% right from their depot, which is open Monday thru Friday between 8am and 5pm. Total Fuels is located at 371 North Ave., New Rochelle, NY 10802. To get to Total Fuels take exit 16 off of I95 just north of the Whitestone Bridge. Take the next 3 right turns and you’re there. If you get lost or have other questions you can call Total at 914-636-1200 or check out their website at http://www.totalfuel.com. Remember to let them know that Tri-State Biodiesel sent you and be sure to pick up your FREE biodiesel bumper sticker.
BioHeat Mandate needs your support today!
Over a year ago, members of the city council, lead by Jim Gennaro and David Yassky approved a bill that would mandate that all heating oil sold in New York City would be blended with 5% biodiesel. This bill would have the effect of reducing the carbon footprint of the city by about 250,000 tons per year. Please take action today by calling Speaker Quinn (212) 564-7757, Mayor Bloomburg (212) 788-3000 and your City Council representative and say "please pass the BioHeat mandate today!"
Remember, Some of the bad press that has been out lately about “Biofuels” is actually about corn-based ethanol, not biodiesel. Tri-State Biodiesel fuel is made from waste cooking oil collected from restaurants right here in New York City. Our fuel does not take away land for food and our fuel produces 5.5 times more energy than what is used to make it. Also, our fuel produces about 78% less emissions than petroleum diesel and is 90% less toxic for our kids, so please don’t believe the petroleum hype…support homegrown biodiesel today!!
